Here at Carmichaels, I currently teach four different section: two classes on the middle school level and two on the high school level.

I have a Great Books 6 class, which is a rotation each nine-week period. During this class, we discuss what makes a novel a classic. We focus on four classic novels on the sixth grade level.

This year is my first time teaching Creative Writing 7. This class is a rotation class for each nine weeks. Throughout this class, we look at various types of genres. Students read examples and discuss the genre, and then they write their own story within that genre.

Next, I have English/Language Arts (ELA) 10. This class curriculum is centered around the Keystone Exam. Students read a variety of texts while focusing on comprehension, new vocabulary, grammar, and literary/reading focus terms. Students also complete a variety of writing assignments each nine weeks.

The fourth section that I teach is the Advanced Placement English/Language Arts 11. This class consists of students who place higher than their current grade level. During this class, students analyze readings, write compositions, and practice grammar elements. It is set to challenge students to succeed in material on a college-based level.
